It’s been a long while since I’ve last updated my blog, but I try to do better in the future :).
I don’t know where and why (I usually don’t), but from somewhere I got the idea to try Low key photography, just so I could do something interesting and to better myself. Since I already owned a ringflash tool, it was pretty straightforward to start this project. In future I’m moving the flash away from the camera and try different angles for the light. My first idea was to test ringlash and another flash on the side today, but for some reason the radio connection between the flashes didn’t work.
Today I wanted to do something really hard and take shots of Mikko’s Otso – a black German Shepherd – after we’ve finished training. I think I did pretty good for my first try :).
These pictures are all taken outside during the day and I only removed little background light spots and added some light to the dogs’ faces. These aren’t really _low key_ in a sense that there is a lot of light on the subject, but after I get some handle how this works, I’ll dim down the lights.
For some reason when I put my gear together, there was already a line forming because everyone wanted a low key shot of their dogs :D. Well, it was pretty fun and educational to take pictures of different kind of dogs with different temperaments :). I hope their owners like these test shots as much as I do :).
